My name is Calum Peden and I am 17. In June 2011 for my Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition I am going to travel to Morocco in North Africa to climb Jbel Toubkal (4167m) in the Atlas Mountains along with several other high peaks in the same area. My personal aim for the expedition is to challenge myself and summit Toubkal. It is also going to create an opportunity to test my skills in a potentially dangerous environment. The group I am going with is made up of 4 people from the Oban Duke of Edinburgh group and 4 people from other groups. The 4 of us from Oban have gone through our Bronze and Silver awards together and this expedition will allow us to put into practice the skills and techniques we have learned. As well as walking, I participate in many other outdoor sports including white water kayaking and skiing.
